The pursuit of beauty has been around since the beginning of the human race. Sticks of red ochre dating back to 40,000 years ago used for facial makeup were found in Southern Africa (1). Ancient Egyptians used malachite to give their faces color and definition, as well as kohl to define their eyes (2). Grecian women painted their faces with white lead and drew on eyebrows. Romans put barley flour and butter on their pimples, and men dyed their hair blonde. History is marked with beauty innovations, all to achieve the ideal beauty standard described in one word as “perfection.”
But what exactly is beauty? This question has been asked since the concept of beauty has existed. After all, how is beauty achieved if no one knows what beauty is? Unfortunately, there is no definitive way to define beauty. There are as many beauty ideals as there are cultures, and people on this earth.
So, rather than attempting to find a common factor that deems someone beautiful, this website will show that no matter if one is thin, obese, scarred, blemish-free, hairless, hairy, short, or tall, beauty is everywhere and it is exquisite.
